Ravenwood Pottery features the ceramics of Jody Windus, soda glazed and fired in an Appalachian Fusion style that blends traditional Appalachian pottery with Japanese and wabi-sabi influences. This area near Smithville was a center of pottery making in the mid-to-late 1800s, with historic kiln sites nearby and clay traditionally dug from the banks of the Caney Fork River. The kiln at Ravenwood was designed and built by Jody, and the glazes — including ash glazes — are mixed and tested on site.
